30 day DIY projects!

So I'm on a DIY decorate your home kick. I love design, and it's the summer so I'm not stressed with school! Perfect time to decorate. Plus our house is a DISASTER right now so I need to clean/organize anyway. So here is my plan! Stay tuned for good ideas, inspiration, laughs, it's going to be a bumpy ride!

Day 1: Cleaning and Organizing

I wish I had a picture to show you how messy our 2nd bedroom is. RJ and I acknowledge this room as little as possible, we call it "the other bedroom", like it's haunted or something. It looks like a tornado threw up in there. I have some good ideas of how things can be more organized, so first I have to clean it! That's my goal for tonight, wish me luck because I'm going to be in there for hours. Plus I need to organize the rest of the house. Ugh just the thought of it makes me tired and want to take a break already.

Half-Marathon

Yup. RJ and I are training to run one. August 18. I'm scared out of my wits but even more scared for RJ because he has shin splints right now and can barely walk! I'm going to be the guy in the background here, crawling to the finish line. Ha! I just threw up a little thinking about it. 

 Or I'll be this guy.

DONATED GOODS DRIVE

Hello hello!

As you all know, I'm very passionate about service. I love helping out whenever I can, and right now our local Juvenile Justice Services (homeless shelter for youth basically) is in need... I want to do a donated goods drive to help them out!

Here's what's needed:

disposable diapers
baby formula
pacifiers
toys
baby wipes
anything a baby needs

school supplies
fleece blankets, 72" x 90" for twin beds (+6 in if you are going to tie the edges)
blank homemade cards
twin sized quilts
bookmarks
friendship bracelets

And so much more, if you want to help with the cause please comment below! I want to get a lot of people involved in this so we can really make a difference! :)

Ending Extreme Hunger for One Generation

 

   Poverty is something that I am very passionate about, and no one really knows about it. I am currently living in poverty as a part of my job position. This is on purpose- so I can better understand the demographic that I work with. 
   I was introduced to the Global Poverty Project about a week ago. It's an organization that's  committed to ending extreme global hunger for one generation. I am currently brainstorming ideas to raise some extra money so I can help with this cause, if you have any good ideas let me know! (and join me in the cause!)

One Month Panic

The big day is ONE MONTH AWAY!!! Oh my goodness! I'm so excited but I'm panicking at the same time! I have just about everything done, except I need reception decor still. I have taken it upon myself to do the reception decor, because no matter how many decorators I talk to, their stuff sucks for the price they give me. SO I'M ASKING EVERYONE FOR YOUR HELP! If you, family members, friends, ward members, anyone have something I can borrow it would be immensely appreciated. 
Here is a rough list of things I am looking for: 
antique-looking books

hanging votives

clear jewels (like fake diamonds that don't look too cheesy :)

mason jars (any size)

and most of all.... CANDLE PEDESTALS :/ 

Wedding Hoop-la

Ok so I must admit, wedding planning kinda sucked at first. Scrambling to and fro trying to call every last place in Utah to reserve the venue, get the dress, caterer, cake, and the list goes on. Buuuut since that I have all that done, it's nice to get to relax and not worry about someone stealing the date! I will dare say that we pretty much have everything planned, we are just figuring out decorations for the reception now. Which is the fun part, WAAAHOOO!

Bridals

We had bridals this past Saturday! SOOOOO thankful it was nice weather out! And again thanks to our wonderful friend and photographer, Kyra Cummings. She was a trooper, we took pictures for almost 5 hours! It was so fun to wear my dress and get all dolled up :) I think RJ secretly had lots of fun too! ;) 

INVITATIONS!

Invitations are about halfway done! WAHOO! Thanks to my good friend Kyra who has been such a help with designing them, gathering the supplies and printing them! This whole box is full and it's only half! 225 more to go for all the folks in California :)

60 Day Home Run Engagement Stretch

60 days precisely until we get married! So, to help resist temptation and prepare ourselves for the temple, I have issued a challenge for us!

Finish the Book of Mormon by May 4th (272 pages left to go, completely possible)

Attend the temple once a week

Pray together more often

Study the Pearl of Great Price

Be aware that as the day grows nearer, thing will probably get harder!

Engagements

We had our engagement photo shoot today! It went well! RJ and I drove all the way out to Eagle Mountain with my good friend/ bridesmaid/ invitation designer/maker / reception decor advisor/ photographer, Kyra Cummings. We had lots of fun and laughed a lot :) However it was really windy and chilled us to the bone! After about an hour and a half we were ready to call it quits because we didn't have coats on... NOT smart! I'm really excited to see how the pics turn out! 

The Story of Us

If the story of us had a genre, it would be a comedy. 

Here's a little about how we met, lets rewind back to September 26, 2010. 

I saw RJ at church and was immediately impressed. He was so cute! Plus he was taking notes ;) (he later informed me that was the ONLY Sunday he was taking notes). 

We then saw each other the next night at FHE. He couldn't stop staring at me! (more like I couldn't take my eyes off of him...) 

Anyway, we started skipping FHE to hang out on Monday nights. Needless to say I pretty much failed my Monday night class!
